How can I get help?

If you’re looking for a hot, homemade meal or a safe space to spend a few hours with your LGBT peers or a place to discuss issues that affect your daily life, our Sunday program is for you!

SUNDAYS: Doors open at 5:00 PM. Dinner is served from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and Group meets from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Come join us!

If you need help with a problem such as finding housing; getting your identification; changing your name; applying for Medicaid, food stamps, public assistance; legal issues; or just need to talk, our Walk-in Case Management program can help you Tuesday and Thursdays.

If you’re interested in meeting with a tutor, preparing for the GED or SAT, or need help applying to college or getting back into school, walk-in on a Tuesday or Thursday.

TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS: Doors open at 1:30. Drop-In Clinic is open from 1:30-6:00 PM.

If you are having an emergency on a day we are not open, or need a shelter referral,
call Kate at (718) 300-0133.

Mission Statement

Created in 2008, the mission of New Alternatives is to increase the self-sufficiency of homeless LGBT youth and to enable them to transition out of the shelter system and into stable adult lives. We do this by providing case management, education services, life skills training, community-building recreational activities, opportunities for self-expression, and support services for HIV+ youth. Our guiding principles are those of harm reduction, youth development, and empowerment.
